A Long Island community was searching for answers this weekend after a young woman was found with multiple stab wounds on the front lawn of her own home.

Authorities say when they arrived at the scene at about 4.45pm on Saturday, they found 27-year-old Meghan Kiefer badly injured. She was rushed to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Police have not yet disclosed a motive for the stabbing or whether they had identified any suspects. Officers said they were still asking the public for assistance.

Kiefer was found at her home on Harford Drive in the Long Island hamlet of Coram. She was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
